A Backyard Wedding in the age of Corona | Bridget & McKinnon

On Saturday, Bridget and McKinnon married in their parents’ backyard in Kansas City. They streamed their ceremony live on Facebook for their family and friends to watch. Their immediate family members gathered in the yard to watch them share their vows. It wasn’t the wedding that they had originally planned - obviously. Like many couples, the celebration that they had prepared was impossible to carry out due to coronavirus.

After the ceremony, everyone shared a toast. Immediately after the toast, honking and shouting could be heard from around the corner. Everyone ran to the front yard, where a parade of Bridget and McKinnon’s loved ones - a surprise secretly arranged by McKinnon’s mom - had lined up in their cars to celebrate with them from the street. It wasn’t the wedding they had originally planned, but it was perfect.
